Hi Everyone,
It is that time of year again. I'm a little late getting this information up here but it isn't to late to be part of this.
I was contacted this morning to find out if we were still going to be involved with the descent again this year and how many people will be attending as they need to start sorting everything out.
They are down on people to help with the recoveries this year, while I know the regulars will be there, I would like to see other club members get involved with this if they can.
If you are not interested in the recovery side of things, there are lots of other areas they require help, information is available on their website. Help can be for either of the two days or for the whole weekend.
If you are interested in attending, there is a database on the group for you to register your interest. If you haven't helped out before, it is a great experience, a great group of people and all training is provided for free. They have social get togethers as well as the training weekends and on race weekend, you have access to parts of the Avon Valley that others are not allowed into. Infact, the road along the Avon Valley is not open to the public at all through the year and is only accessible to members of the Avon Support Unit (ASU) twice a year. Once to check out the river conditions prior to race weekend and on race weekend.
If any new members are interested but want to ask more questions, please contact me through my yahoo email address.
We need to have some idea of numbers fairly soon, so if you can commit to this please register your interest over the next week if possible so I can pass this information on to the ASU.
If you are a member of this forum but not the club and would like to help out at the Descent, just email me at compact4wdwa@yahoo.com.au and I will add you to the list and pass your details onto the ASU or if you would like to ask more questions, please do so.
If you are not a member of the forum or club but would still like to be part of this event, register your interest by visiting http://www.avondescent.com.au/ and go to the Avon Support Unit link in the menu. They are after all the help they can get.
Attached are the Social and Training calenders for this year. I will add further information/updates to this forum as it is received.
