BUSHFIRE ADVICE FOR EAST OF JATRRAHDALE
ALERT LEVEL:
A bushfire ADVICE is in place for a series of fires in State forest east of
Jarrahdale which were started by lightning strikes. The fires are active in
the following areas:
. 8km north-east of Jarrahdale. The fire is 3km from the nearest private
property. The fire has burnt less than 1 hectare.
. 30km south-east of Jarrahdale. The fire is 15km from the nearest private
property and has burnt less than 1 hectare. The fire is burning on a rocky
ridge and access for crews will be difficult.
. 10km east-north-east of Jarrahdale. The fire has been contained and crews
are now mopping up.
. 45km south-east of Jarrahdale. The fire has burnt less than 1 hectare.
Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) fire crews are on the way.
WHAT TO DO:
People travelling in the area need to be aware of smoke on Jarrahdale Road
near the Albany Highway junction, and near the Millars Log Road and Canning
River Road junctions. Motorists should also be aware of DEC personnel
working on site and take their advice.
WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:
DEC fire crews are on the scene. Water bombers and a Type 1 helicopter have
been dispatched to assist ground crews.
ROAD CLOSURES:
No roads are closed but motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed
and drive carefully due to smoke.
AGENCY RESPONSIBLE:
DEC is managing the fires.
